Communication Research : Email Newsletters
Before designing a direct mail prototype for the Marimekko x TOMS collection, I looked at at Marimekko's past months newsletters that I had subscribed to.
The colour palatte, the graphic positionings, and the messages in the email need to be taken into consideration as way to make sure that new design will not run away from the brand identity as well as branding.

The Ruuturouva
One of the 6 selected Marimekko patterns to be used for the Marimekko x TOMS is The Ruuturouva. The energy from colours and scale of the checkered blocks will be something that the consumers will appreciate and love.

Incorporating the colour palette and pattern into the shoe to see if it's visually appealing. I've also inserted the sole label to see how the Marimekko x TOMS logo would look like.

Marimekko x TOMS customer profile
Something that I need to keep in mind while doing the pen portrait for brand collaborations is that there are target customers from two brands.
While maintaining the existing customers and the brand essence, this Marimekko shoe collaboration is also about injecting to the new and youthful market in the UK market. Who she is, where she lives, what she likes are just some of the questions I need to know.

Pops of colours
Colours are everywhere in our everyday life. They sneak on us in the most random places to make us smile. This is what the Marimekko x TOMS seasonal shoe line will be about.
